It's good that the boys are calm, otherwise it'll be impossible with hysterical kids. The coach's meditation practise saves the children. Otherwise you need to drill the entire route as preparation (especially the narrow 15" chokepoints), lay a 4 mile long oxygen flexible pipe and pull the kids out by flexible capsule. Gosh! 😥

Hi everyone This is a complex and difficult situation for all. The boys can't swim or dive. They are far into the cave. The dive is complex even for experienced cave dives. There are only a few divers in the world who could lead this effort on the original search and two of them were the two Brits. They managed to do what they came to do. Now they are half way through the delicate operation to get them out. Some people may wonder why not just keep doing it faster and get them all out in one go. The extraction plan would have been very complex and precise. It is not just the divers but also the logistical supply chain keeping it going. The replacement of all the swap gear along the way. They would be changing cylinders at certain stages. They have to get them ready for the next attempt, so while the divers are taking their break there would be a hive of activity still occurring underground getting everything reset. I'm an Aussie diver and in the diving world we have a saying "Plan your dive, and dive your plan". This way you wont get ahead of yourself and everyone knows the schedule and their part perfectly. At the time of writing this it is 8 out 5 to go at 0424hrs Zulu 10Jul 2018. With the current successes I believe they will get the remainder out without difficulty. The reason is "They are diving the plan".

Once they get everyone out there government needs to dynamite the entrance closed. I would like to thank all of the rescuers Who risk their lives. You are heroes. I truly believe the cave should be closed or banned from anyone else diving. This would prevent further loss of life to explores and rescuers. Perhaps covering the entrance with a Irangate to prevent thrill seekers from entering.

The key skill for this trip is Cave diving which is not part of military training. This is why the first people to find the boys where British Civilian cave divers. I used to know a couple of people who where cave divers. The guide lines where installed by cave divers. Military divers do have training in using guide lines and amble levels of courage.

Can't they use some kind of gps system to pinpoint their exact location. Drill many small width holes(Faster) in their cave to bring in oxygen to give them more time(Adding pipes). With that extra time, use some sort of sonar to map out the terrain and start working on drilling a larger hole to extract them through.

Miesiąc temu

You break the seal and there's nothing stopping the water from rising to the top and drowning everyone. Also, it's monsoon season there so the holes will just get flooded in.

Maybe the best way to extract the kids out is to make an artificial sturdy rubber tube with specific length by section and half meter or so in diameter, installable underwater or a single rubber-like tube, whatever suite the environment. Inside is a fitted sledge-like vehicle, installed with wheel like a roller skate -- to reduce friction and speed up the process of conveying. This sledge-like vehicle can be towed from both ends by a strongest rope, and flexible enough to emulate the contour of the flexible tube inside. Contour made by the passageway as the surrounding rocks demands. After installation of this rubber tube, water can be drain to clear the passage. But the boys should still have the breathing apparatus in case of emergency and a communication device with them. This tube is much more important in the portion where the boys have to dive five meters deep just to reach other end. This is the only safe and quickest way to rescue. Other option is to find a way up beyond the location of the boys following for the source of water current and look for a thinner part of the mountain side to bore holes and divert the water. That way effectively drain the water quickly, and free the boys. They can execute this using the old compass and a helicopter to determine thin side of the mountain relative to the position of the waterway. use modern tech. Help forward this message to authorities for validation, because I think there is only a little time remaining.

put blinking lights under water from start and end of the dive in each pocket area or section, so that divers can easily navigate by looking at the blinking water it would be important that the lights are color coded which is which, also attach each boys with lights so that divers under water can always see and locate them. next they have to pass the boys to the next section where another divers are waiting and do the same passing the boys to the next section to another divers. kinda like passing relay

You're right. Depends on the density of opaque particles in the water. If the water is very muddy, the light will reach a much lower distance. All in all, let's not be keyboard experts. People who are there in the field know best what can and cannot be done.

Miesiąc temu

There should be no problem to supply air and exhaust air from the cave. Running tubes with fresh air and sucking air from the chamber is a no brainer. Getting the boys ready to drive is a little tricky but I believe they can do this.

They are running out of air and not oxygen. While oxygen is a component of the air we breath thye do not pump pure oxygen into the scuba tanks... there is more to this than just filling scuba tanks and giving the kids a regulator to breath through. sheesh the media is so silly at times

Hard to understand the actual conditions, but I wondered if some kind of “tube” could be laid between dry spots and the kids literally pulled through the pipeline between the dry spots? That or some kind of breathe-bubble that would protect the kids while they are guided by divers out of the cave. Again, not to suggest inventing high-tech solutions, just something simple that takes the need to have the kid do the critical work of the rescue.

*You want to save these boys? OK, first, get some body bags that are watertight, or make them so. Next, secure a line to the front and back ends of bags, run the lines from the entrance to the boys and back, one line runs out, the other is to drag the bags back into the cave. Also add an air filler valve. Gaffa tape an air cylinder inside the bag and open the valve, put a boy in the bag and close it tight, then immediately drag the (ed: inflated) bag and boy out of the cave. The boy will have plenty of air even if it leaks slightly. Repeat until all saved. My pleasure.*

Miesiąc temu

@Future: 96 feet seems like a LONG way underwater...

Miesiąc temu
Future Hindsight
Future Hindsight

Mr Cabot- Several reasons that wouldn't work. The narrowest underwater part is too small to get through with a SCUBA tank on the back. If you had a bubble of air around your head in a bag and you dragged that bag under water you would not be able to take a breath against the water pressure, unless the bag was fully inflated. Just tell the kids to relax and breathe through a regulator and drag them out with one diver leading and one following. The longest single underwater section is only 30 meters.

Miesiąc temu
Mr Cabot
Mr Cabot

Thanks? The idea is to get them out asap, correct? So, solve whatever problems remain, we need the people on the scene to do that after considering any ideas on offer, ideas such as as above. You can add some ballast, plus the boy and air cylinder do provide some negative buoyancy. You do not have to fill the bag to bursting, just enough pressure to give each lad the air required for the timed duration of journey out. This could be fairly rapid, ten or twenty minutes total time in the bag, also the boys could be sedated if necessary.

Miesiąc temu
Future Hindsight

A bag full of air would float, the tightest part of cave is too small to swim through with a SCUBA tank on the back.

BRIGHTER SOLUTION! i think elon musk's specially-designed, custom-made tube system (1 to 2 meters in diameter) with something they can hold on to or grasp inside (especially in steep or elevated places) is one of the brighter solutions this durable / solid / flexible / elastic tube system (meters or kilometer in length) will be used only in watery / flooded areas for the children to cross yes, the children need not wear frogsuits nor go into diving mode, they only have to wear helmets & body pads (safety body protectors) or there can be a pulling-system inside where a child will be pulled up, one at a time, using a special rope attached to his body. this procedure will be applied only in highly-steep elevated area the tube must have "stopper" in the opening to prevent possible water inflows & must be oxygenated the problem: how & when to create this special custom-made tubing system (with something they can hold on to or grasp inside, esp. for steep / highly elevated areas) in lightning fast i'm talking about the design of the tube & the company that can make this kind of special tube system the race against time is ticking, as heavy monsoon is drawing near somehow, if proven safe & effective, this tube system will be stored & used in future similar incidents ~~~~~~~ the rubberized tubing system must be around 4 to 5 inches thick (if possible covered with thick metallic sheet (1 centimeter) to avoid being punctured by sharp rock formation) this tubing system must be used only in areas flooded with water (critical areas) not all areas are flooded it must be tested & re-tested (7 times) before the children will be allowed to pass thru the tubing system, one at a time a child must be safely & properly guided when entering this tubing system
